Thought Field Therapy

TFT is a unique form of psychotherapy discovered by Dr Roger Callahan, a Californian Psychologist. Clients are shown how to tap on specific points on the upper body and hands whilst they think about the trauma or problem that is distressing them. These points correspond to the classical acu-points. TFT does not change the thought, but simply deactivates the negative response to that thought. After treatment, an event or situation that previously caused distress can be talked about freely, no longer causing discomfort. Simple phobias can often be removed in one treatment. More complex problems will take longer.

TFT can help alleviate the negative effects of:

Anxiety – caused by relationship problems, stress, fears, phobias, self image issues, self worth issues, work related anxiety, everyday fears and worries

Addictive urge for – chocolate, food, drink, drugs, sex, shopping, gambling or smoking

Trauma – Past and present. Abuse, assault, a victim of crime, rape or a car accident, house fire, childhood incidents. Grief caused by the loss or absence of a loved one or pet. Any upsetting memories no matter how old, any thoughts that continue to cause distress or upset.

Personal problems - anger, feelings of guilt, shame, loneliness, upset at the end of a relationship, embarrassment, self-esteem, blushing, obsessions, negative thoughts, social phobia, sexual problems, all eating problems.
